​​Sliding Rock - Brevard, North Carolina
Located in the Pisgah National Forest just north of Brevard, 7.6 miles from the junction of US Highways 64 and 276, is Sliding Rock, one place where you’re invited to “take the plunge” down a 60-foot slippery cascade into the chilly 50-60 degree, 7-foot deep pool. There are 2 observation platforms, and lifeguards on duty during the season (Memorial Day weekend - Labor Day). This is a heavily used recreation area, so it’s suggested to come early. But you’ll have fun! It’s suggested, too, that you wear old shorts and old sneakers if you choose to take the plunge. Nominal admission charge for sliders but no cost to watch.

Pearson's Falls and Glen - Saluda, NC
This unique botanical preserve is comprised of 268 acres of rich cove forest, granite, spring-fed streams, and a moderate 1/4 mile trail to a 90 ft. waterfall. We boast having over 200 species of rare wildflowers and plants. Mosses, lichens, shrubs, and a variety of trees reside in this Glen, which is classified as a deciduous climax forest. Pearson’s Falls is a perfect stop when visiting the area. We have picnic facilities and can accommodate all types of groups and cyclists.
Chimney Rock State Park – Chimney Rock, NC
The Park has been part of NC State Parks since 2007, and you can learn more about that here. Of course, we’ve been around much longer than that, and our history is worth a read. Not surprisingly, we push and promote sustainability wherever we can as an NC State Park, so that our beauty can be enjoyed for generations to come. And part of that effort is protection for our flora, fauna + features which takes the work of not just us, but important conservation partners and various partner connections.
DuPont State Recreational Forest – Brevard/Hendersonville, NC
The DuPont State Recreational Forest is located in the Blue Ridge Mountains between Hendersonville and Brevard, North Carolina. Its 10,400 acres of forest feature four major waterfalls on the Little River and several on the Grassy Creek.The original 7600 acre forest was established in 1996 through a generous bargain sale from the DuPont Corporation. In 2000, the Forest was expanded by two property additions, including the spectacular 2200 acre tract in the center of the Forest containing High Falls, Triple Falls, and Bridal Veil Falls. The original property is presently open to hunting, fishing, hiking, horseback riding and mountain biking (see maps, trail guide and user policies).

Pisgah National Forest
PNF is comprised of over 500,000 acres of hardwood forest with whitewater rivers, waterfalls and hundreds of miles of trails. It is home of the first school of forestry in the United States, now preserved at the Cradle of Forestry in America historic site, and boasts two of the first designated wilderness areas in the east. The Pisgah, Grandfather and Appalachian Ranger Districts are scattered along the eastern edge of the mountains of western North Carolina and offer visitors a variety of opportunities for outdoor recreation and enjoying the natural beauty of the mountains.

Saint Paul Mountain Vineyards
Welcome to Saint Paul Mountain Vineyards! We are the first commercial vineyard in Henderson County. We are a family owned winery, located on acreage that has been in the family and farmed for more than nine generations. Our tasting room includes both indoor and outdoor seating with spectacular views of our vineyards. Saint Paul wines are made from 14 varieties of grapes grown in two locations at elevations of 2,300 and 3,000 feet, the highest in Henderson County and some of the highest in the state. Saint Paul wines are produced and crafted by our full-time winemaker, a graduate of California Polytechnic University with more than 14 years of experience in producing wine in Sonoma, California before joining us in North Carolina. We offer a wide variety of venues, indoor and outdoor, for your wedding or special event. Our tasting room is open year round. Burntshirt Vineyards – Hendersonville, NC
Mountain lore has it that back in the day farmers would burn their fields to clear the land on Burntshirt Mountain for planting. They tossed their shirts in the fire for good luck and the fields yielded a bountiful crop! Western North Carolina is known for its love of food and passion for great craft beer. At our Mills River Taproom and Restaurant you’ll find an abundance of both. Visit the Taproom to sample one of our 23 beers on tap, many produced just a few feet from the restaurant. Beers are accompanied by artful, chef-driven food focused on small plate, sharable, whole animal and farm-to-table dishes sourced mainly from local suppliers. While you’re here, grab a beer and head outside to our Back Porch and Beer Garden to take in the views of the beautiful forest or stroll through our Mills River Estate Garden. We use the homegrown vegetables and herbs for our restaurant and small-scale pilot brewery.
